Once Upon A Star

I was a star in the dark blue sky,

I saw birds, airplanes, and many kites fly.

I searched for you all around the galaxy,

Below me, I saw oceans, land, and trees.

They were too far and no match for me,

I shined some light and gave them a tease.

I searched for You when it was dark and quiet,

I focused on You and refrained from riots.

I joined other stars and only came out at night,

With the moon, we provided a shimmering sight.

To all those who were looking at us from below,

We were better because we had a shiny glow.

I searched for You and ignored the rest,

Out of all of the stars, I knew I was the best.

Some went astray to become shooting stars,

As I laughed at them, I hurt myself and got scars.

They were foolish and they had to concede,

With my ego and pride, I, too, did not succeed.
